last stop, Paris!
our last stop on our adventure was the beautiful city of Paris. we flew from Prague to Paris on a quick hour flight and arrived in Paris around 5 pm. traffic was horrible, and it took us about two hours to arrive at our hotel. our hotel was located perfectly between everything we wanted to see. we wanted to make the most out of our short time in Paris, and decided a good way to see the city was to take a river cruise. our cruise was about an hour and we got to see the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the romantic architecture that surrounds the city. we saw one of the most beautiful sunsets on the river and we slowly watched the night of Paris come to life. after the cruise, we were starving and grabbed some food and watched the Eiffel Tower glitter.
the next day, we woke up early and decided to walk the streets of Paris. we started our day at The Louvre, and even though we didn't go in, we admired the beauty from the outside. we then walked through gardens and numerous fountains until we made our way to the Arc De Triomphe. the walk was long & hot, but when we finally arrived, we couldn't help but marvel at the massiveness and beauty of the Arc De Triomphe. after taking some pictures, we found a cute little cafe and ate our delicious lunch. Paris by far had the best food and we indulged in every single piece of food we ordered. we decided that since we were in Paris, we had to try escargot. surprisingly, the escargot was extremely tasty. I don't know if it was because we were starving, or because it was actually good. either way, trying new foods became a staple of the trip and this is one of the few that we would definitly try again. after lunch, we stopped inside a bakery and got some treats to eat under the Eiffel Tower. we found the perfect spot next to the Eiffel Tower to enjoy our chocolate cake and it was also a great place to people watch. as much as we had enjoyed our afternoon under the Eiffel Tower, we were exhausted and needed a nap. after our naps, we went to dinner. our dinner was three courses and although it was all very different food than what we were used to, it was simply amazing. the cheesecake I had was honestly the best cheesecake I have ever eaten. Paris is famous for their delicious food, and I'm so glad we got to experience the ultimate French cuisine.
our last day in Paris was filled with food, friends, and shopping. we said goodbye to Sammi who had to head back to Germany, but the rest of us headed towards Champs-Elysées and got to see all the high-end fashion stores. we stopped in a famous macaron shop and tried some of their pastries. like I said before, the food was AMAZING but I don't think anything could top the pastries we ate at Pierre Hermé. the rest of the day was filled with walking the streets and seeing every last bit of Paris before we had to head out the next morning. I wish we had more time in Paris because there was so much more to see. in the short time that we did have in Paris, we got to see a lot of the famous attractions and admire the city. Steph and I had a flight out of Paris back to Dallas and Lindsay headed to Switzerland to meet up with her family. as much as I had enjoyed travelling around Europe, I was ready to be back home in Texas.
Paris was the perfect ending to the most unbelievable trip. in a way, Paris reminded me a lot of New York City. it was busy, full of people, and the glamour of it all. Paris has always been a dream of mine to visit. ever since I was a little girl, Paris was the one place I always wanted to go. It was everything I imagined it to be. It was romantic, full of delicious food, and famous landmarks that I got to see with my own eyes. being able to share the love of travel with three of my best friends was such a blessing. two weeks filled with laughter, love, and friendship. we got to see the most amazing cities and countries and make memories that will last a lifetime. my first trip to Europe was everything I dreamed of and more. I experienced new foods, rich culture, and a deep history that I enjoyed learning about. a big thank you to Stephanie, Lindsay, and Sammi for being the best travel companions and letting me take millions of pictures. my love for travel and photography made the trip even better, and I can't wait to see more of the world and continue my love of travel and photography.
